J W ANDERSON
If you head to the Soho corner where Brewer Street intersects with Wardour Street, you’ll see some of Kemp London’s latest neon handiwork. On this spot stands British fashion designer JW Anderson’s flagship store, sprawled across two units. Ahead of its opening in March 2020,
Kemp London was commissioned to produce neon signage for the store front, according to the designs of 6a Architects. The sign’s background combines flat aluminium with silver anodised fluted aluminium. Red acrylic serif-style letters overlaid with clear red neon spell out ‘JW Anderson’.
On the store’s other side, the brand’s signature anchor iconography is repeated in cut-to-shape blue acrylic overlaid with clear blue neon. The result is a beacon of primary colours, announcing the designer’s new Soho home.
The aluminium fluting nods to the Italian cafes that have historically made up a big part of Soho, while the searing neon pays homage to the area’s famous nightlife.
