Luther – The Fallen Sun

Luther – The Fallen Sun staring Idris Elba.
Kemp’s brief was to translate a mermaid and anchor design into a giant, neon wall feature.
We began with forming mild steel sheet into the requisite anchor shape and gave
it an aged finish. Onto this we painted the intricate mermaid design,
and overlaid it with golden yellow and ruby red neon glass.

The piece was designed as a focal point for the tattoo parlour scene in the film
and was installed on set at Belt Craft Studios in North London, fixing it into place
on a deep red wall that provided maximum contrast to the yellow neon element.

Besides this custom piece, Kemp London supplied the production with a myriad
of sex shop neon props for the street scenes shot in Soho.
