Philip Colbert
Kemp London has worked with renowned artists at every stage in their career. We were pleased for the chance to work with multidisciplinary neo pop surrealist Philip Colbert on a collection of neon sculptures.
Working tightly to his designs, we fabricated three distinct pieces which reference recurring motifs in his back catalogue. That includes Colbert’s alter ego, a cartoon lobster.
Cactus Saw II is 100cm tall and 50cm wide, similar to Popcorn. Lobster Cigarette stands at 132cm high and 50cm wide.
Rather than being staid and stagnant, all three pieces depict a moment of action, and the dynamic medium of neon perfectly captures Colbert’s colour-obsessed pop art eccentricity.
